Infant feeding

Who are we?

The infant feeding team are a county-wide team of three specialist midwives, one of whom is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

We are here to offer you information, support and a point of contact to enable you to make the right feeding choices for you and your baby, and to help you feel confident in giving your baby the best start to life.

Challenges in feeding can arise in the early days, and although all our midwives are trained to offer feeding support, sometimes more specialist knowledge is needed to navigate these more complex situations. We can provide a detailed feeding assessment during a 1:1 appointment and ongoing support as required to help you get feeding back on track.

We often have fully trained breastfeeding friend volunteers on the postnatal ward to offer you support with the feeding of your baby. We recruit new volunteers every year, if you wish to contact us about becoming a volunteer, please use the email address above.

We fully recognise and respect that not all parents will identify with the word ‘breastfeeding’ and other gendered terminology that we most commonly use. We welcome and embrace the use of parents’ preferred terms.
