Where people come first

We’re really pleased you’re thinking about joining us, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. At Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, we know that starting a new job can feel like a big step. That’s why we aim to make our recruitment process as simple, fair, and supportive as possible. From your first application to your first day, we’ll guide you through each stage so you know what to expect.

On this page, you’ll find all the key information you need, including where to look for jobs, how to apply, and what happens once you’ve accepted an offer.

Finding and applying for a role

Where to find job opportunities

You can find all our current job vacancies on our website. We also post them on NHS Jobs.

NHS Jobs, applicants can subscribe to email alerts tailored to their specific job searches making it easier to stay informed about new opportunities that match their interests.

We want joining our team to be as clear and straightforward as possible starting with where to find our vacancies and how to apply.

Applying online

We use an online application system for all roles on NHS Jobs. This helps us keep the process consistent and fair for everyone.

Please note that we don’t accept CVs, so your online application form is your chance to show us why you’re the right fit for the role. Make sure you take time to fill it in fully and accurately.

Before you apply

Each job listing includes a Job Description and Person Specification. These documents are there to help you understand what the role involves and what we’re looking for. Use them as a guide — they’re key to tailoring your application.

If something in the listing isn’t clear, feel free to reach out to the named contact in the advert for an informal chat.

Making your application count

Take your time filling in each part of the application, especially the person specification supporting statements. This is your chance to tell us about yourself: your experience, your skills, and why you’re a good fit for the role. Write it in your own words, giving specific examples of how you meet the criteria.

Closing date

Jobs stay open until the closing date shown. Please ensure you submit you application before the closing date and the job advert closes.

Before you submit

Check that all your contact details are correct especially your phone number and email. Once your form is submitted, you won’t be able to make changes, but you can save your progress and return to it at any point before final submission.

After you submit your application

Once you ‘Submit’ your online form you can only view your form. After you apply, keep an eye on your email and your NHS Job account. We’ll contact you there if your application progresses.

What to expect during the interview process

Who makes the selection?

Once the job advert closes, the recruiting manager from the department you’ve applied to will review all the applications. They’ll shortlist candidates who best match the role’s requirements.

If you’re invited to interview

If you’re shortlisted, we’ll be in touch with an interview invitation. This will include everything you need to know: the date, time, who you’ll be meeting, and any assessments or tasks involved. For some roles, like nursing, midwifery, or clinical support positions, we may invite you to an assessment centre first before moving on to interviews.

If you’re not selected this time

We’ll let you know the outcome by email through your NHS Jobs account, so please keep an eye on your inbox there.

Getting ready for your interview

We want you to feel as confident as possible. Take some time to think about why the role interests you and how your skills and experience fit.

On the day

Interviews are usually led by a small panel of two or more colleagues. If there are any extra tasks or tests on the day, we’ll let you know in advance. Before you leave, the panel will explain when and how you’ll hear back from us.

After your interview

You’ll receive your interview outcome via your NHS Jobs account.

Your offer – what’s next

If you’ve been successful and accepted an offer to join us — congratulations! We’re really pleased to welcome you to the team. Before your start date, there are just a few important steps we’ll need to complete.

Your conditional offer

Once you accept the role, we’ll send you a conditional offer of employment by email. This will outline what we need from you, such as references and other documents as part of our pre-employment checks.

Pre-employment checks

To finalise your offer, we’ll need to verify your references. Depending on your role, additional checks may be required—for example, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if your role involves working with children or vulnerable adults. Full details will be provided in your offer email.

Employment  health check

Before your first day, you’ll be asked to complete a health questionnaire. Our Occupational Health team will review it and may invite you for further checks, such as blood tests or a consultation, to ensure you’re fit to start. You’ll receive guidance on this once your offer is made.

Confirming your start date

Once all pre-employment checks have been passed, we will agree a start date with you. If you are currently in work, please do not hand in your notice until you have a start date confirmed by by the Recruitment Team.

Your contract

You’ll receive your employment contract and induction details by email. You can sign the contract electronically or on your first day. Once signed, please return it to your line manager  so it can be added to your HR file.

Living our values – every day

Your first day

Before you arrive, your line manager will usually be in touch to confirm when and where to meet. They’ll help guide you through your first day, introduce you to the team, and make sure you have everything you need to get started—including access to systems, spaces, and support.

Your induction

Every new starter takes part in our induction programme. It’s designed to give you a clear understanding of the Trust, our culture, and the essentials of working here.

Supporting you from day one
