A place that values you.

At our Trust, people matter, and we make sure they know it. From long service awards to everyday acts of appreciation, we recognise the dedication that keeps our hospitals running. It’s why so many colleagues stay, and why those who take time away often return. They’re drawn back by the sense of purpose, the values we live by, and the supportive teams that feel like a community.

That feeling of connection often runs deep: across teams, across careers, and sometimes even across generations.

Gaynor Amphlett, who works with the Audiology team at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, is part of a family with four generations of NHS service. Her grandparents, mother, and aunt all spent their working lives here, in roles from portering to nursing. Today, Gaynor continues that legacy, and so does her daughter, Kerry Collins, now a Staff Nurse in Theatre Care.

Becki Murphy, Senior Sister for Outpatients, and Laura Manners, Directorate Support Manager for Surgery, are inspired by their mother Mandy Moore, former Strategic Director of Nursing for Outpatient Improvement, who recently retired after 40 years of service. Both Becki and Laura bring the same kindness, honesty, and respect to their roles that their mother demonstrated throughout her career.

Our shared values—being open and honest, acting with kindness to ensure everyone feels cared for, and treating each other with respect—guide how we support and learn from one another. It’s this culture that builds a close-knit community where people and generations of families feel welcomed, valued, and proud.

“I’m incredibly proud to be part of four generations of my family who’ve worked in the NHS.

“I’ve spent the last 20 years supporting audiology and ENT department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. My grandparents worked at Gloucester Royal—my grandfather as Head Porter, and my nan as an Auxiliary Nurse. Their daughters, including my mum, also served in NHS roles.

“That sense of dedication runs deep in our family. The NHS gave my grandparents and parents stable, meaningful careers, and it’s given me the same. When I went through a tough time personally, my team at Worcestershire were there for me, offering counselling and wellbeing support without hesitation.

“It’s more than just a job. You’re part of something that matters.

“I’ve seen first hand how everyone, no matter the role, plays a vital part in delivering care. Now, with my daughter Kerry working here too, the family tradition continues, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

“When you know your workplace cares not just about patients but also about the staff who work there, it’s natural to want your loved ones to be part of it too.”

“My mum, Mandy, recently retired after over 40 years of dedicated service here. She began as a young nurse in 1983, during very different times. At one point, she was told she’d only ever nurse at the bedside and shouldn’t expect to manage others—but she proved them wrong, rising through the ranks to become Divisional Director of Nursing. Throughout her career, she led with determination and kindness, always showing compassion, openness, and respect to both patients and colleagues.

“I’m proud to have followed in her footsteps by joining the NHS myself. I now work as a Matron for Outpatients, Ophthalmology and Rheumatology. My sister Laura also works here as a Directorate Support Manager for Surgery—along with other family members, including my in-laws.

“The greatest compliment I can give is that so many of us choose to work here together. It shows this is a place where people feel valued and supported. It’s  a place built on trust, kindness, and shared purpose. When you know your workplace cares not just about patients but also its colleagues, it’s only natural to want your loved ones to be part of it too. That sense of community and belonging makes all the difference.”
