DISCHARGE RESPONSE VOLUNTEER – age 18+

Our Discharge Response Volunteers (DRV) help our patients and our staff. We need volunteers in our hospitals to help wards and pharmacy, supporting with getting patients home.

This role is at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

We ask all volunteers to give regular hours to support our patients and staff and that you commit initially to volunteer for a minimum of 6 months. Hours are flexible – some of our volunteers come in once a week for three or more hours, with many coming in more than once a week.

Before you become a volunteer you will be asked to complete E-Learning for Health modules and invited to an online welcome session at the Trust via Microsoft Teams.

Training is compulsory as we have a duty of care to our patients and to you. It is important for us to know that you have the necessary information to carry out volunteer activities in a safe manner and patients are not put at risk.  While you are a volunteer you will need to attend yearly update training on selected topics, and role specific training will be given for the Discharge Response Volunteer opportunity.

We will apply for two references and for an enhanced DBS (police) check.

Yes, our volunteers designed the uniforms with us and we ask everyone wears this so that they can be easily identified by patients, carers and staff.  All volunteers are issued with an ID badge.

Yes, free parking is provided for all of our volunteers.

We are also looking for people interested in joining the Patient and Public Forum. People who join the forum are patient representatives. We invite members to visit our hospitals and take a look at the environment and the patient experience. They will be asked to work with us to find out where we are working well and where we can continue to improve. Members meet regularly as a group and work on specific projects as well as working in partnership with the Trust in lots of different ways.
