Current or aspiring pharmacists are being invited to a Virtual Pharmacy Career Evening being held by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT) on Thursday, January 25.

The first of its kind online event, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, is open to newly registered pharmacists, experienced pharmacists, or any pharmacist interested in a career in hospital pharmacy.

It is hoped the evening will give prospective candidates an insight into the valuable and varied work that pharmacists do across the Alexandra, Kidderminster and Worcestershire Royal Hospitals.

Lindsay Stewart, Lead Pharmacist for Specialty Medicine said: “It’s a great time to become part of our pharmacy team, as we provide access to a wide array of in-house and external training programs, spanning from clinical diplomas to leadership modules. Our commitment extends to fostering growth and success, offering dedicated support not only to newly qualified pharmacists and technicians as they navigate various career paths within our Trust but also to experienced pharmacists seeking to delve into more specialised roles.”

Joanne Parkes, Senior Oncology Pharmacist & Advanced Clinical Practitioner said: “Working at the Trust has enabled me to share my passion for Cancer Services, not only within the pharmacy team but also with the wider multidisciplinary team and patients. The pharmacy department has provided me with opportunities to excel in my career at a local, regional and national level.”

Working in an Acute setting allows pharmacists opportunities to learn and work in a broad range of clinical specialisms across the Trust as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. Pharmacists work in ward-based teams, clinics and may be assigned to work alongside on-call medical teams. All roles are highly regarded and crucial to the ongoing care of patients.
