Hayley Flavell joined the Trust as our interim Chief Nursing Officer in September 2025. She was appointed as substantive Chief Nursing Officer in October 2025.

Her most recent role before joining WAHT was as a Strategic Advisor to the Florence Nightingale Foundation, a UK-based charity that works nationally and internationally supporting nurses and midwives to promote health, improve care and save lives.

Before that she was Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery and AHPs at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH). During her four years at SaTH, she took the leading role in shaping quality governance, improving the fundamentals of nursing, midwifery and AHP care, and improving trust and confidence in the local community. She also helped to deliver significant improvements in the Trust’s CQC ratings across a range of clinical services.

Hayley, who has also held senior nursing roles with the University Hospitals Birmingham and Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals Trusts, is passionate about providing the highest quality of care to patients, families and local communities, strongly believing that we should shape services by listening to our patients and developing a workforce that meets their needs now and for the future.
