Dr Jo Rouse – Associate Non-Executive Director

Jo Rouse is an experienced senior leader in health and higher education, with a career spanning clinical practice, education, research, and organisational leadership.

As Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at University of Worcester, she provides strategic leadership for the development and delivery of high-quality health professions education, working closely with university leaders, NHS partners, and other stakeholders to advance educational excellence, research, and innovation.

A Registered Adult and Children’s Nurse, Jo brings 20 years of clinical experience in children’s nursing across local and regional hospital services. This clinical background continues to inform her strong commitment to quality, patient and student experience, workforce development and the education of the future health and care workforce.

Since 2023, Jo has also served as an Associate Non-Executive Director at Wye Valley NHS Trust, with a particular focus on supporting the Trust’s ambitions for research and education.

She brings a collaborative and strategically focused approach to board-level leadership, drawing together her experience of the NHS and higher education to support organisational development, partnership working, and continuous improvement.
