Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity has reached their goal, raising £223,000 through their Hold the Moment – Maternity Appeal, to enhance maternity services across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The appeal which aimed to provide nine additional jaundice meters for the community midwife teams, 23 buddy beds for the postnatal ward at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, improvements to maternity environments across all three hospital sites and an extension to the maternity bereavement suite, to include a dedicated memory-making space, has reached this milestone thanks to generous support.

The appeal has seen the community come together, with community members taking part in the charity’s Midwife Miles challenge event, where participants raised funds and clocked up the miles a community midwife team travels in a month throughout November and December 2025, and community members also hosting their own fundraisers. The appeal has also seen generous donations by the public, and the charity has also secured grants from local grant funders.

Sophie Burt, Head of Fundraising and Community Development at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity, says: “Reaching this milestone has been a brilliant experience, to see the community come together, and families supported has been wonderful to see.

“The appeal which will enhance experiences for families across Worcestershire is example of what Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity does, enhance experiences of care, through the provision of additional medical equipment, transforming environments and putting patients at the heart of our fundraising.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported appeal, together we can make a real difference across your local hospitals.”
