Mr Mattine is the OMFS Lead Clinician and governance lead for Head and Neck cancer for Worcestershire and Herefordshire. His principle areas of interest include management of complex craniofacial cancer, particularly complex reconstruction with advanced microvascular free flaps. He offers a diverse range of free-flaps, including newer techniques utilising perforator flaps. He has completed advanced sub specialist training in the fields of facial reanimation for facial palsy as well as total ear reconstruction, having trained with some of the most internationally renowned pioneers of these techniques in France. He is a core member of the specialist Head & Neck multidisciplinary team and a member of the specialist multidisciplinary team managing skin cancer. In his role as governance lead, he has instigated several projects aimed at improving outcomes and reducing morbidity for Head and Neck patients. Similarly, he has introduced the most advanced innovations in his clinical practice and has been instrumental in leading the development of Head & Neck Services and establishing the unit at the forefront of Head & Neck Surgery. He has contributed to medical literature and has presented widely at national and international meetings. He enjoys teaching and is an instructor on the Paris Plastic Surgery course. He has been invited to lecture on topics related to reconstructive surgery at various international Maxillofacial, ENT and Plastic Surgery conferences. He is involved in training higher surgical trainees both in the UK and overseas. Mr Mattine has been involved in several research projects. He completed a 2 year research project through a formal MDs thesis studying the pharyngeal airway. Additionally, he was involved in a study investigating the role of genetic anomalies in craniofacial deformities.
