Tee up for surgical robot appeal

Local golfers are being asked to tee up for a charity golf day in aid of the Worcestershire prostate cancer surgical robot (Rory the Robot) appeal.

Hosted by the Worcestershire Golf Club in Malvern, the event is being held on Friday 29 May 2015.

Consisting of an 18 hole round of golf, a two course meal, putting competition and other prizes, the day is set to be a great day out for both well-practiced and novice golfers.

Signing up a team of four costs £160 with all proceeds going to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s Charitable Fund.

The Rory the Robot appeal aims to raise £1.6 million for a surgical robot to treat patients with prostate cancer across the county. With Rory's assistance, patients will benefit from less pain, minimal blood loss and reduced complications.

In Worcestershire alone there are 2500 men surviving prostate cancer at any one time, with about 450 to 550 new prostate cancer cases diagnosed every year.
