A team of fifty staff who work across women and children’s services at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust entered into the Spring Wolf Run on Saturday 23 April, fundraising for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity.

The team consisted of a mixture of consultants, junior doctors, nurses, midwives, maternity support workers, radiographers and managerial staff from all three areas within the division.

The Spring Wolf Run is wild running – a unique combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs. It’s an epic challenge across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes and thick mud.

The team tackled a series of awesome obstacles, both man-made and natural all to raise as much money as possible for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity.

The money raised will be used to improve the environment and services that Women and Children of Worcestershire experience when they are receiving care in our hospitals.

The idea to enter a team into the challenging yet popular run was spearheaded by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Laura Veal.

After Laura and her colleagues completed the run on Saturday she added: “I’m so happy to have completed that challenge, after encouraging so many of my colleagues to take part too.

“Not only has this provided an opportunity for the team to have some much-needed rest, recuperation and team building after the pressures of the last 24 months but we are also trying to raise as much money as possible to improve the environment and services that Women and Children of Worcestershire experience when they are receiving care within the Trust.

“Thank you to everyone who took part and to those who have supported us so far.”

After working with the team who completed the Wolf run Lucy Brown, Charity Engagement officer for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals charity added: “We are delighted to work together with colleagues in the Women and Children’s division and so delighted to see them all complete and enjoy the Wolf run while raising a fantastic amount of money together.

“To have the support of our fantastic colleagues, just highlights their commitment to putting their patients first, as all funds raised will support the patients, staff and services of our hospitals.”
